Ken Ransom was born in Charlestown, Indiana in 1943 and graduated from Oil Township School in Perry County in 1961. He went on to Oakland College and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 1965. His first teaching position was at Needmore School. Ken also went to Indiana University for his Master’s degree which he received in 1967. After thirty-three years in the school system, Pastor Ken retired in 1999, which allowed him to work full time as the pastor for Crossroads Church.
He taught at Needmore until the schools consolidated and went to Bedford North Lawrence High School. While there he was the assistant varsity baseball coach and driver’s education instructor.
Ken married the former Debby Holmes from Avoca, Indiana on August 4, 1967. The Ransom’s welcomed their first child, Barry in 1969 and later Missy in 1972. Ken and Debby have seven grandchildren.
Debby made the decision to give her heart to Christ in the fall of 1974 at the Avoca Baptist Church. With a desire to see her family made whole, she prayed continually for God to move on her husband. It was not long afterwards that Ken gave his heart to the Lord also.
In 1977 Ken was called into the ministry. He went to several churches to fill the pulpit, but in 1978 he was called to the Springville Community Church. After several expansion they quickly outgrew the facility. With the support of Church leaders and the congregation, they purchased land on Hwy 37. In October 1995 a new building with a new name was completed, Crossroads Church.
The Ransom’s have always had a desire and passion to see souls saved. They are excited about the growth of the church and are very thankful for all that God has done and is doing here at Crossroads Church.
